										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Love and sensuality seen through the medium of woman inspire the highest points of Monteverdi’s music. He reminds us that mystical love is imbued with sensuality, even eroticism, and that sensual pleasure and passionate, carnal love for a woman border on the sacred. With this new disc, the ensemble Il Festino have aimed to bring out the whole range of nuances associated with love and womanhood. Two female singers, accompanied by five instrumentalists, guide us along the two banks of this torrent. There are bridges, though, and we are able to cross them. One moment we are letting ourselves be cradled by the gentleness of our Holy Mother, the next we are laying down our weapons before the voluptuous breast of a Madonna.</p>

<p>Chez Monteverdi l’amour et la sensualité à travers la femme nourrissent les plus belles pages de sa musique. Il nous rappelle que l’amour mystique est empreint de sensualité &#8211; d’érotisme même &#8211; et que le plaisir des sens, l’amour passionné et charnel de la femme côtoient le sacré. Avec ce nouvel album, l’ensemble Il Festino souhaite mettre en valeur toutes les nuances amoureuses liées au beau sexe. Deux chanteuses, accompagnées par cinq instrumentistes, nous promènent sur les deux rives de ce torrent. Pourtant, les ponts ne manquent pas et nous les traversons volontiers. Tantôt on se laisse bercer par la douceur de la Sainte Mère, tantôt nous rendons les armes devant la volupté d’une nymphe.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Michel Lambert and Sébastien Le Camus were among the most important composers of Louis XIV’s reign. While not involved in opera, where Lully reigned supreme, they were ubiquitous in the aristocratic and intellectual salons. Their airs sérieux, published in several editions over the course of the 17th century, display to perfection the refinement and balance central to French good taste. The structure of these pieces is simple; their beauty is enhanced by flowing melodic lines, richly expressive harmony and texts that emphasise the enchantment and sweetness of love. The extensive vocal and instrumental forces used in the recording enable solo airs to be presented in alternation with polyphonic ones, highlighting the sensitivity, harmonic daring and contrapuntal mastery of the two composers.</p>

<p>Michel Lambert et Sébastien Le Camus figurent parmi les compositeurs les plus importants sous le règne de Louis XIV. Loin de l&#8217;opéra, où Lully règne en maître absolu, mais omniprésents aux salons des aristocrates et intellectuels, leurs airs sérieux illustrent d&#8217;une manière exemplaire le raffinement et l&#8217;équilibre propres au bon goût français.  De structure simple, la beauté de ces oeuvres est sublimée par des lignes mélodiques souples, une harmonie riche et expressive et des textes qui mettent en avant le charme et la douceur du sentiment amoureux.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This recording takes us inside the palaces of early 17th-centrury Rome and presents a fascinating array of compositions that served as background to the lives of the contrmporary aristocracy. As well as pieces by Stefano Landi, there are vocal and instrumental works by Girolamo Frescobaldi and Johann Hieronymus Kapsberger, two musicians who shared with Landi the patronage of the Barberini family. Stefano Landi was a musician who throughout his career was able to develop and significantly alter his compositional style, adapting to his environment. As with many other composers of his generation, his language was initially modelled on Renaissance polyphony before evolving towards solo vocal models intended to suit both chamber and operatic contexts, opera being a genre to whose creation he contributed.</p>

<p>Cet enregistrement nous mène à l’intérieur des palais romains du début du XVIIe siècle et nous présente une fascinante galerie de compositions qui accompagnaient les journées de l’aristocratie de l’époque. Outre les pièces de Stefano Landi nous trouvons quelques œuvres vocales et instrumentales de Girolamo Frescobaldi et Johann Hieronymus Kapsberger, deux musiciens qui ont partagé avec Landi le même mécène: la famille Barberini.</p>
<p>Stefano Landi est un musicien qui, tout au long de sa carrière, a eu la capacité d’évoluer, de changer considérablement son style de composition et de s’adapter à son environnement. Son langage se construit d’abord par l’imitation de la polyphonie de la Renaissance pour ensuite évoluer vers des modèles à voix seule conçus à la fois pour la chambre ou pour l’opéra, ce dernier étant un genre musical qu’il contribue à créer.</p>
